Principal Communication 2021-2022

Dear SPMS Parents and Guardians,

Please join me in celebrating our two outstanding school counselors for National School Counseling Week. Ms. Robin Taylor-Chadwick and Ms. Alysha Gordon are integral in shaping the culture of SPMS around the belief that all students can achieve with adults who are dedicated to cheering them on along the way. They are unwavering in their advocacy of our students and value their voices as our most important stakeholders. Thank you, Ms. Chadwick and Ms. Gordon, for all you do!

Stakeholder Climate Survey

On Friday, March 4, 2022, the annual BCPS Stakeholder Climate Survey will end. If you have not already completed the survey, please take a few moments to provide feedback using this link: Stakeholder Climate Survey. Each year, this comprehensive survey provides valuable feedback and helps to steer decision-making about the budget, staff, and programs. The survey is brief, anonymous, and available in multiple languages.

Cafeteria POS System Launch

The Office of Food and Nutrition Services has upgraded its on-premise system for all cafeteria transactions.  This new system is a huge leap forward for us to increase the level of services that we provide to the students, as we recover from the ransomware attack.

The new system will be launched at SPMS on February 28th.  All students will be assigned a unique pin number that they will need to receive their lunch in the cafeteria (breakfast service will remain the same).  Pin number letters will be printed and distributed to students prior to the system going live.  The second major phase of the roll-out will be at the beginning of the 2022 school year when we expect to resume offering snacks and a la carte items for purchase.   At this time, we will not be offering snacks or other items for purchase. All meals remain free at this time.
